Marketing Made Me Do it

Getting to know Joely Callaghan

Today we sat down with one of our Senior Delivery Consultants Joely Callaghan to find out a bit more about what makes her tick.

Synchro:      Firstly, Happy Birthday, it’s nice of you to take some time out of your birthday to sit down and have a quick chat about all things you

Joely:      Thank you and no problem.

Synchro:      Let’s get right into it the hard hitting journalism then, what is the best birthday present you’ve ever received?

Joely:      Oh, God... That’s a good question. I’m going to have to have a minute to think about that. I can definitely tell you the worst. The worst present I ever received was when I ordered something off Zara and Nathan interrupted the delivery, stole it away and wrapped it up for my birthday. I was on with the delivery company trying to find out where it was.

Synchro:      to be fair that’s genius. I’ve got a lot of time for that.

Joely:      yeah he always does stuff like that, wrapping up just everyday items like dishwasher tablets. To be fair to him he did get me my best birthday present as well when he proposed on my Birthday last year.

Synchro:      I guess that makes up for it then but is an engagement ring as a birthday present a bit of a cop out, if he was proposing anyway.

Joely:      that’s true actually he didn’t get me anything else that year.

Synchro:      We better move swiftly on; how does it feel being the first person taking part in this get to know the Synchro team segment?

Joely:      Yeah I feel really special. I feel like I’m on this amazing podcast.

Synchro:      Talking podcasts, it’s no secret in the office or on LinkedIn that your big into your podcasts but if you had your own what would it be about?

Joely:      Probably something really boring like migraines.

Synchro:      would it just be you telling people to drink more water?

Joely:      There’s a lot more to it than that, I’ve never really given it any thought, this is a really hard question to answer, maybe something to do with Recruitment and the all the different factors involved like BD and Candidate Search, something along those lines.

Synchro:      OK we have our podcast topic but who would be your ideal top 3 guests dead or alive?

Joely:      Straight in number one Chris Hemsworth, although I’m not sure what we would talk about I’d probably just stare at him for a bit.

Synchro:      Sounds like riveting listening.

Joely:      then I would probably go for Robin Williams as I think he’d be really interesting to talk to and Ricky Gervais, I think he’s very funny. Wait do they have to be real people, or can I have fictional characters on it?

Synchro:      It’s your made up podcast, you make the rules

Joely:      Well in that case I will have Chris Hemsworth and then Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute from The Office US. I watch that show at least once a year.

Synchro:      Fair enough, what are you watching on TV at the moment?

Joely:      911

Synchro:       Can’t say I have seen that one

Joely:      Give it a go, it’s all about fireman

Synchro:      Will do. Would you rather be able to go back in time one day, or forward in time one day?

Joely:      Would I be able to use it more than once? I think I would go for back in time as I would be able to have a do over if I mess anything up. Although if I could jump forward a day, I could get out of doing things I don’t want to do, like this.

Synchro:      That felt unnecessary

Joely:       haha, sorry, I’d definitely go for the being able to go back in time a day, being able to redo things would definitely be more useful.

Synchro:       We know how important communication is to you as a recruiter, but what is your favourite method of communication?

Joely:       Oh picking up the phone 100%

Synchro:      really, even outside of work?

Joely:      yeah its old school, although i do love a voice note, well I love sending a voice note I hate receiving them, they are like mini phone conversations without the awkward goodbyes dragging on.

Synchro:      makes sense, but you don’t like receiving a voice note.

Joely:      No I’d rather they just text a response, it’s just more convenient.

Synchro:      Little bit of a double standard but that’s OK I guess, it is your birthday. Last question then, what would you call this article?

Joely:      Oh, I don’t know, … a conversation between professionals? I'm really not good at this kind of thing.

Synchro:      That’s up there with your migraine podcast.

Joely:      How about Marketing made me do it?

Synchro:       I like it, thanks for sitting down with me. Hope you have a great rest of your birthday.

Joely:      No problem, have a good day.
